Michael has just returned
from China where he was working with Shanghai Ballet, conducting the
world premiere of a new two act ballet Hamlet, choreographed by Derek Deane, for which he created the score, adapting and orchestrating music by Tchaikovsky.
Prior to that he was the Conductor and Musical Director for the UK premiere Live televison broadcast of The Sound of Music on ITV.
In October 2015 he was Musical Director, Vocal Arranger and Orchestrator for Pure Imagination, a new show featuring the work of double Oscar and Grammy Award winner, Leslie Bricusse.
2015 also saw return concerts to conduct the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. In July Michael conducted the UK debut concert performance of George Gershwin's Of Thee I Sing at the Royal Festival Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. He made his debut in September wih the BBC Concert Orchestra on the long running BBC Radio 2 broadcast, Friday Night is Music Night, and returned to conduct them again in March 2016.
His compositions include Rosa for the dance company DMD (Sadlers Wells) and La Destinée, composed for the Royal Ballet School, which premiered at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
